Founded in 1897, the RAC has made both significant and historic contributions towards modern road safety. In 1901 they introduced uniformed patrols, in 1907 they were awarded the royal approval and in 1912 they introduced roadside emergency telephone boxes. Today, with more than 8 million members the RAC remains at the forefront of developing motoring services and assist both private and business motorists. The success of the RAC is based on the ability to evolve their services to meet the demands of an increasingly technical fleet of vehicles, and they pride themselves on carrying one of the world’s most advanced computer systems to deal with calls for roadside assistance.
The brief was to produce two infographics for the RAC; one depicting the number of UK car accidents within a set period and one illustrating UK fuel pricing trends.
The key to an impactful infographic is to dissect the information made available, analyse the data and focus on the sections which best convey the end message. The visuals presentation must be aesthetically pleasing, consumer-friendly and aligned with the brand behind the message. These infographics were used on the RAC website and across social platforms.
